Bucket List Wedding: St Raphael's Ruins
You know when you love a thing, love a creation so much, that you’re kinda terrified to actually share it with the world just in case the world doesn’t love your love as much as you do??? Well, that’s what happened with Melissa and Billy’s St Raphael’s Ruins wedding day. They found me because of a blog post I wrote several years ago when I stumbled across St Raphael’s Ruins (near Cornwall, ON) that I would give a discount to anyone who booked me whose wedding ceremony was held in these ruins, just because I so desperately wanted to shoot there.
I didn’t actually think the blog would work. But it did! I loved this day so much. Melissa and Billy are a wonderful couple, wonderful parents and their wedding day was perfect. Their friends and family made me feel welcome, like I was one of the gang. Melissa and I danced the night away- a perk of shooting a wedding so far from home is that I am staying overnight and can hang out! I have no doubt that if we were physically closer, Melissa and I would be friends.
St Raphael’s Ruins are absolutely gorgeous. The weather on August 10, 2019 was absolutely perfect. The NAV Centre…was intriguing. In a previous life the NAV Centre was a base of some sort, which made for such a cool building with its multitudes of hallways and mid level stair cases. This is the building where we should all party post Covid and play hide and seek. I got lost so many times!
This day was filled with so many amazing moments, from the bride breastfeeding her tiny human while simultaneously being fed by a bridesmaid to first couple dances to guests throwing chocolates! It was very difficult to choose which images I wanted to share with all of you, as it is, I chose too many.
I finally release to the world one of my favourite weddings. Bucket list item checked off.
